Brush Care
Thank you for supporting my Kickstarter campaign and getting your hands on your new set of brushes. These are professional tools- treat them right and they’ll reward you with durability.
1. When Painting
During each session:
- Don’t overload them with paint.
- Don't use for drybrush and avoid putting too much pressure on the bristes.
-
Keep paint away from the ferrule! Only load paint halfway up the bristles. Letting paint seep into the metal ferrule can weaken the paintrbush and cause splaying.
- Regularly rinse your brush in clean water while working, especially when changing colours or using fast-drying paints.

2. After Use
After each session:
-
Use lukewarm water to properly clean the bristles. Never hot, as it can loosen the bristle glue.
-
Gently shape and rinse: Swirl the brush in water, wipe it gently on a lint-free cloth
-
After cleaning, gently reshape the brush to its natural point with your finger.

3. Mantainance & Storage
-
Use brush soap: Every few sessions (or after using metallics, oils, or inks), clean with a brush soap to remove deep-seated pigment and restore natural oils to sable hairs.
-
Check for buildup: If the base of the bristles is clogged, gently work out any dried paint.
-
Let your brushes dry horizontally or bristles-down: this prevents water from collecting in the ferrule, and preserves the tip of the paintbrush.
-
Keep away from heat, dust or direct sunlight for too long, also don't store dirty: a single session left unwashed can significantly damage a fine detail brush.
