ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Carlo Borella, and I am an Italian independent miniature sculptor, character designer, and painter based in London. All the miniatures on this website have been designed, sculpted, and often painted by me. While I predominantly sculpt by hand, I also enjoy experimenting with 3D sculpting from time to time.

I would describe my work as "non-traditional fantasy" — fantasy with a twist. My focus lies in the intricate details of character facial expressions, striving to capture complex emotions and bring them to life in miniature form. I’m drawn to creating contrasts, often pairing the raw, menacing aspects of my characters with intimate, vulnerable emotions.

A recurring theme in my work is the exploration of dream-like, surreal realms, where I blend elements of fantasy with a sense of classicism and aestheticism. I find inspiration in the tension between the fantastical and the human, pushing boundaries while maintaining a deep reverence for the art of sculpture.
